Biography:

Anthrodog Anim Jeff Danival was a football powerhouse. Neight bright nor hard-working academically, but too valuable a player to pass up, he went to university on an athletic scholarship. He shone as his recruiters had hoped, and even branched out into other sports when he could. He lived it up in his college life, with girls and parties and fraternity life, and dreamed of the NFL.

Then it all came apart, during an intense game against a hated rival. It was raining cold sheets, the score was close, and time was ebbing away in the last quarter. The ball snapped, the lines clashed, an eerie light surrounded Jeff, and he blew the nearest opponents yards down the field with a pale green shockwave. His spontaneous display of metahuman powers got him ejected from the game, and no one--coach, manager, school administration, teammates--trusted him to take the field again. Jeff lost his scholarship, team membership, and girlfriend (not necessarily in that order), and didn't stick around at the university long enough to spiral further. His side pursuits could not sustain him. Whether he left for academic, financial, or personal reasons is probably impossible to determine.

From there, Jeff made a valiant, if morose, effort to maintain a life for himself, working minimum wage jobs to keep up rent on a tiny apartment. Sometimes he'd lose a job in a fit of anger and have to move on elsewhere. Eventually his strength, powers, and attitude gained him a certain reputation that attracted underworld attention, and criminals solicited him here and there for one-off jobs of a violent nature. Some he refused; some he accepted, reluctantly but in desperation. His reputation grew.

Not long ago, Jeff moved in with Summer Jamison, a quiet Anim of similar species, also with superpowers, who was able to subtly calm Jeff's violent temper and assure him that satisfying the demands of New Valhalla's criminal element was not all he was good for. But those demands kept coming... before long, with threats that further refusal would be fatal to him or to Summer. The two contemplated flight, but where could they go?

Luckily, at just that moment of deepest fear and weakest resolve, they met Werejackal, who offered to help them out in exchange for allegiance. Jeff would have chances to vent his rage for nobler ends, and the two would have protection from the petty elements who wished them harm. Jeff and Summer agreed, and so became the first two additions to Werejackal's fledgling gang: “Wolfmage” and “Stormfox.” The arrangement has since grown beyond mere pragmatism; their loyalty to Werejackal is genuine.
