The Stuff of Dreams, Chapter 5

He woke up in a dumpster about a block away. His face ached horribly, but Sarah didn't seem to have done any permanent damage. With a groan, Kyrian tried to sort through what had just happened and simultaneously tried to haul himself out of the dumpster. Why didn't Sarah tell me about Oberon? And what does she know about it? And how in heaven's name does she hit so fucking hard?

Once he had pulled himself out of the dumpster, he looked down and saw his food, still in neat packages, lying across the alley from him.

"Ha ha,” he said flatly. “Funny funny, Sarah."

Walking over to the food, he realized something had been placed atop the packages. He leaned down and picked up a small matchbook from a nearby club, Olympus. He opened it and read Sarah's small, neat handwriting. It said:

Well, Kyrian thought, closing the matchbook, at least she left me something.

Comments:

Technically, if Sarah had hit Kyrian in the head hard enough to knock him out, he'd never remember it when he woke up... when you get knocked out by a blow like that, short-term memory doesn't get stored and you lose the last 5 seconds or so of experience. --Cirne

Yes, well, as the standard excuse in such matters goes, we slept through that part of school. What? huh? Memory? Maybe he's tough. ^/^ ~Mysterio

*plays the 'it was magic' card* Magic! Magic! It must have been magic. She had magic gauntlets and he had a magic head. Yeah. ~~Dog

I want a magic head! ~Mysterio
