A little over 16 hours was spent on this, from sketching it out with the graphics tablet to pleading with my computer to not DIE when trying to compile something between 150-200 layers. Well. I think I've learned the max capacity of this machine. Stupid Binch - why can't you be more powerful like the Dell?!
Anywho, it's Sable (yay!) and Sage (kudos to Jess'ca for the name!!!) walking through a forest on a path. Sage's character design is apt to change, as I kinda did it on the fly (whereas I worked on Sable on Mael. Mrr, must draw Mael more. She feels neglected.) To start, he's supposed to white/uber light gray, which he clearly isn't. Well, mebbe. I dunno, he's too dark. Oh, he's a bunny rabbit (it's not exactly obvious). Yay for bunny rabbits!
Just wait till I get around to designing the psycho gerbil chick who goes by... SNICKERS!!! >) (no, there's no reference there, eh heh heh heh....).
Anywho, er, yeah... Sable's eyes are preeeeeeetty. They look so nice! ^_^ (It took... 7 or 8 layers). Too bad the rose reeks of CGishness. I'm not entirely sure how that happened. It musn't happen again. The background is also a wee bit too dull for my liking, but it's kinda good cuz it does't take away from the main focus (the characters). Eh, it's a double edged sword.
The colours dulled when I converted it to a jpeg. Anywho, I used the graphics tablet and Open Canvas. ^^;;; Yes, I am obsessed! I don't have Photoshop intalled at the moment, so that's also a factor.
Biggest nitpick - Sable's face is a bit too wide. Or rather, her eyes are too far apart. It was alright in the sketch, but when I tightened up the lines I goofed (same with her hand, or mebbe that's just cuz the face is a wee bit too wide). Dammit. So close. *sigh* Back to the drawing board...
::blinks:: And where would she find a rose in a forest, anyway?! >_<;
Commentyness:
I think Sage needs some black on his ears.... yeeeeeeeees.... note to self! ~ Za
Wow... I think this has to be one of the most expressive pieces I've seen you do. Art rarely moves me... I really like this. I see what you mean about her eyes... it seems like her left eye is strangely positioned now that I look closely at it. But taken as a whole for effect (which I tend to do unless people point out details to me.. one of the things I'm going to have to fix if I really want to become an artist), it just makes her face look more open.. definitely adds to the effect, IMHO. But yeah.. really like. --Cirne
