Spite
This represents the negative, angry, malignant side of a person. Those with multiple near-death experiences (and often violent pasts), the exposure to anger, bitterness, jealousy and frustration is arguably more extreme than it might be for ordinary people. This is your nasty side, and a part of the motivation and driving force for a character.
Spite Rating - This is your permanent Spite (dots).
Spite Points - This is your “temporary” Spite (boxes).
- If you accrue 10 Spite Points, you immediately lose all Spite Points and gain 1 Spite Rating.
Tapping Spite
Rather than “spending” Spite Points as Vitality and Willpower are spent, Character can “Tap” into their angry, resentful feelings of Spite to fuel various powers with the risk of gaining more Spite Points. Doing so effectively risks a piece of your soul to the dark side, but not without benefit. Here's how it works:
- You may tap as much Spite as you have available in your pool of Spite Points, but no more per turn.
- For each Spite Point tapped, you immediately regain 1 Vitality Point.
- You may choose instead to tap a Spite Rating. You immediately regain 10 Vitality Points.
- For every Spite Point you tap, roll a die at difficulty 7. For each failure, gain a Spite point. For each 1 you roll, gain 2 Spite Points. The same rule applies to tapping a Spite Rating.
- If your Spite Rating is >=4, you may Tap Spite to activate your Stains. For every Spite Point tapped, the Stain is active for 1 turn. For every Spite Rating tapped, the Stain remains active for 1 scene.
