Gun Scene

"Freeze! Dammit, you freak show, FREEZE!"
The boss's voice was drowned out by the roar of gunfire from the gangsters. Burning Wind heard him, but wasn't listening-- The hiveling was far too busy trying to dodge the fusillade of bullets speeding by her. Said task was becoming more and more difficult, too-- even with the incompetency of the mob squad and her incredible speed, she was tiring. Two of her four arms raised in a blur as she darted across the street, firing four, eight, twelve shots, emptying the revolvers' chambers. Surveying the damage, she saw nine more mobsters on the ground and cursed to herself. Three bullets wasted and none left! Seeing her plight, the gunfire from the gang started again and Burning Wind was forced to move. The girl's attention darted to every corner of her compound eyes as she ran from the hail of bullets, trying to find suitable cover. In a blur of carapace and wing, the slim form of the humanoid hiveling sped across the street and behind a car. After a moment, the firing slowed.
"Wind!” the boss shouted in the direction of the car behind which the hiveling crouched. “You have to give up! You're unarmed and surrounded. If you give up now, we'll just turn you over to the police, right? And this whole mess will be all straightened out."
"You bastards!” the angry reply came. “I'm not going to let you pin this damn crime on me! You're gonna pay for what you've done!"
"Too bad,” replied the boss. He motioned to two of the thugs from the twenty-odd who were still alive. “Go get her.” The men grinned and broke from the group, walking toward the car.
Burning Wind turned and looked around the corner at the men. She wasn't about to stop fighting, but the men were burly and both human-- overpowering her would be a simple matter for them. Yet! All is not lost, thought Burning Wind. Their overconfidence is their folly. See how their guns are held--
The expressions of the gangsters turned to shock as their guns leapt from their hands, skittering under the car in front of them. In under a second, the pistols were in Burning Wind's receiving hands. She smirked, feeling their weight. Magnums-- just what she needed. The hiveling was out from behind the car in a second. She had little time to act; the gangsters were raising their guns at her already. The imbuing spell she needed took only a fraction of a second, and she acted before a single bullet was fired. The guns honed on the gas tank of one of the mobsters' cars, and two bullets left the chamber of each gun. Her efforts were rewarded as the car erupted in a plume of fire. Gangsters were thrown, blazing, away from the vehicle. Those remaining turned back to where the hiveling gunslinger stood before, but all that remained were four spent shells, still trailing smoke.

That's really cool... can't wait for more! ^/^ You might want to reformat it with paragraph breaks instead of single line breaks, though. It'd make it easier to read. --Cirne

Spiffy, yet realistic, all things considered. :) ~Za
